[Advaita-l] Samsara is like a dream, not real - Srimad Bhagavatam

In the Bhagavatam, samsara is stated to be a mental concept, and these
ideas are based on the three qualities (guna-s) of Prakriti. Thus having
ignorance for its source, samsara is compared to a dream:

Prahlada tells his classmates:
बुद्धेर्जागरणं स्वप्नः सुषुप्तिरिति वृत्तयः।
ता येनैवानुभूयन्ते सोऽध्यक्षः पुरुषः परः २५।
एभिस्त्रिवर्णैः पर्यस्तैर्बुद्धिभेदैः क्रियोद्भवैः।
स्वरूपमात्मनो बुध्येद्गन्धैर्वायुमिवान्वयात् २६।
एतद्द्वारो हि संसारो गुणकर्मनिबन्धनः।
अज्ञानमूलोऽपार्थोऽपि पुंसः स्वप्न इवार्प्यते २७।
The entire samsara anubhava, experience of bondage, is inherent in the
waking, dreaming and sleeping states. These are called 'Vrittis' (mental
modes) by the Bhagavatam. So samsara is only in the mind and does not
really exist outside.
[The Aitareya Upanishad says these three are three dreams:
तस्य त्रय आवसथास्त्रयः स्वप्ना अयमावसथोऽयमावसथोऽयमावसथ इति ॥ १२ ॥ 1.3.12 ]
The Bhagavatam also states this point elsewhere:
Sri Krishna instructs Uddhava:
ŚB 11.11.1
श्रीभगवानुवाच
बद्धो मुक्त इति व्याख्या गुणतो मे न वस्तुत: ।
गुणस्य मायामूलत्वान्न मे मोक्षो न बन्धनम् ॥ १ ॥
The usage of words 'baddha (bound), mukta (liberated)' depend on the
guna-s. Indeed the Atman does not have bondage and liberation. Because the
guna-s are illusory, I am neither bound nor freed.
ŚB 11.11.2
शोकमोहौ सुखं दु:खं देहापत्तिश्च मायया ।
स्वप्नो यथात्मन: ख्याति: संसृतिर्न तु वास्तवी ॥ २ ॥
Just as a dream is a mental mode, not a reality, so too samsara is not a
reality.
Says Acharya Gaudapada:
न निरोधो न चोत्पत्तिर्न बद्धो न च साधकः ।
न मुमुक्षुर्न वै मुक्त इत्येषा परमार्थता ॥ 2.32 ॥ Mandukya Karika
[ There is no dissolution, no creation, none who is bound, no aspirant,
none desiring moksha, none liberated. This is the absolute truth.]
