It's appropriate to consider that Adi Sankara was a South Indian who
preferred Kanchi one of the 7 mokshapuris to discard his material sheath.
This is the confirmed view of Jagadguru Chandrashekharendrs Saraswati Swami.
North Indians claiming Kedarnath as the kshetra where he left his body is
not supported by facts
Secondly as an Adwaitic Acharya Ado Sankara is a Jivanmukta. Where he
leaves his body really doesn't matter at all. Videhamukti is infructuous
for saints who have attained the siddhi of Jeevanmukthi or Kaivalya Gnana.
