[Advaita-l] Inauguration of Shankara statue on 10th Nov 2023

Sringeri:

At a distance of 2 km from the Sharada Peetha, the 32-feet tall statue of
Sri Shankara Bhagwatpada built on Maruti Hill  will be inaugurated on
November 10, 2023. Jagadguru Shri Bharati Theertha Swamiji on June 3, 2013
at Maruti Hill had laid the foundation stone for this project.

The statue of Shankaracharya along with the idols of his disciples
Jagadguru Sri Sureswaracharya, Padmapadacharya, Hastamalakacharya and
Thotakacharya will be unveiled during the golden Jubilee celebration of Sri
Bharati Tirtha Swamiji's sannyasya sweekaara (in 1974).

The idol has been installed in a space of about 2 acres.  750 tons of stone
was brought from Hoskote, Bangalore, for the sculpting of the idol. A 32
feet tall statue has been created by the famous sculptor Shankara Sthapathi
of Tamil Nadu, indicating the period for which Shankaracharya lived.
Arrangements have been made for sunrise and sunset viewing on this hill. To
climb up and down the hill an escalator is installed.
