Hare Krishna

  * Sorry, only yesterday night I could have a look at it.

Please refer to BSB 4-1-1 and 4-1-2 especially the last part of 4-1-2.

Ø Avruttirasakrudupadeshaat & lingaaccha, these two sUtra-s form the adhikaraNa named AvruttyadhikaraNa, as per Sri SSS the vishaya and saMshaya of this adhikaraNa is whether shravaNAdi direct sAdhana-s to be done only once or we have to do it repetitively?? For this there is argument that it would suffice if we do it only once as shruti not saying it has to be repeated. Siddhaanta is not so, it has to be repeated till the dawn of saMpUrNa jnana or paripUrNa jnana. bhAshyakAra gives the example of upAsana and nidhyAsana etc. which has to be repeated for the ‘nirdishta’ phala. Read the complete explanation of Sri SSS twice, but nowhere I could find that after shravaNa, manana & nidhidhyAsana again only mahAvakya shravaNa needs to be done. OTOH all these direct sAdhana (pratyaksha sAdhana) need to be done together. shravaNa (parabrahma vishayakavaada pratyayadinda – Kannada) needs to be done repetitively since it would be helpful to get rid of adhyArOpita amsha gradually. So for those who cannot get the paramArtha jnana by hearing shruti vAkya they have to repetitively do ‘shravaNAdi’ (shravaNa etc.) sAdhana till the dawn of paripUrNa jnana. I am missing something here in Kannada explanation ?? please let me know.

Also please see the footnote 4 by Sri SSS in his translation of BUB 2-4-5 on the meaning of the term * kevala shravaNa * mentioned by you.

  * As I mentioned earlier only shravaNa would be enough for the uttamaadhikAri-s or adhikAra obtained through pUrvajanma samskAra. By this bhAshyakAra refuting theories like shravaNa of shruti vAkya is just like reading the instruction manual and practical experience of this jnana should be experienced in lab like nirvikalpa samAdhi and unwarrantedly labelling manana as dhyAna of shruti vakya and nidhyAsana as samAdhi experience which is the result of shruti vAkya dhyAna.

Hari Hari Bol!!!
