[Advaita-l] Avidya - Maya identity/synonym admitted by Shankara

In the Bhagavadgita we have this verse which Shankara cites often in the
Bhashyas:

न कर्तृत्वं न कर्माणि लोकस्य सृजति प्रभुः ।
न कर्मफलसंयोगं स्वभावस्तु प्रवर्तते ॥ १४ ॥   5.14

Here Shankara explains 'svabhAva' as 'avidyAlakshaNA prakritiH, mAyA...and
cites the 7th ch.14th verse: mama mayA...:

स्वभावस्तु स्वो भावः स्वभावः अविद्यालक्षणा प्रकृतिः माया प्रवर्तते ‘दैवी
हि’ (भ. गी. ७ । १४)

वक्ष्यमाणा ॥ १४ ॥

However, in the 13.31:

अनादित्वान्निर्गुणत्वात्परमात्मायमव्ययः ।
शरीरस्थोऽपि कौन्तेय न करोति न लिप्यते ॥ ३१ ॥

Shankara cites the 5.14 and explains svabhAva as avidyamAtra-svabhAva - तत्र
अयं परिहारो भगवता स्वेनैव उक्तः ‘स्वभावस्तु प्रवर्तते’ (भ. गी. ५ । १४)

अविद्यामात्रस्वभावो हि करोति लिप्यते इति व्यवहारो भवति,..

Thus we have Shankara himself giving two explanations for the same term
svabhAva in two different places as: mAyA and avidyA.

He accepts Maya as the shakti of Brahman in the above cited BG 7.14.
