There is also the story of Lord Virupaksha saving Lord Varaha.  Shankara,
in the Prapanchasara, has alluded to the episode of Shiva taking the
Sarabha form to destroy the varaha murthi which could not be contained by
Lord Vishnu himself. Upon the request of the latter, the former contained
the form.
