Shankara cites Gaudapada as 'sampradaya vit acharya' twice in the BSB
itself:

BSB 2.1.9

Shankara refers to Bhagavan Krishna himself as the 'originator of the
Vedanta Sampradaya', taking the lineage of Advaita Vedanta to the Lord
himself:

……… BGB
15.15

Again, the very pillar of Vedanta, Shankara calls, is from the sampradaya:
BGB 13.13

In BGB 18.50 Shankara pities those who are without the guru-sampradaya as
those who will not reach the goal: एवं गुरुसम्प्रदायरहितानाम्
And this is the very prayer of the aspirants of Brahmavidya that Shankara
cites at the very beginning of the Br.Up.Bhashya:
Even a story of yore, Shankara acknowledges, in Br.up.Bh: 2.1.20, is from
Again a word of pity for those bereft of sampradaya, varna-ashrama dharma:
Br.up.Bh: 2.1.20
Chandogya 8.14.1: Another acknowledgement of the Vedanta sampradaya from

In the Mandukya karika 4th chapter, Shankara says Gaudapada pays obeisance
to the Advaita Acharya, Narayana, who initiated the Vedanta sampradaya:

Thus we see Shankara accords the utmost importance to the proper lineage,
the study, the dissemination of knowledge, the receiving of that knowledge,
etc. as the hallmark of genuine sampradaya.
