Sri Ramana Maharshi's works are not for beginners. The query or Self Enquiry, is supposed to end in Atma sthiti.
So after questioning yourself 'Who am I', the question and other thoughts subside naturally, mind is then directed towards source or 'heart'. Then there is maun. We must not keep asking who am I every 10 seconds :)

Yes that is true. The ramaNa's way of teaching is definitely not for beginners and it is not the 'teaching' (upadesha) as such that bhagavAn wants to convey, it is all about the 'natural state' of Atman that he wanted to convey opines one of the traditionally renowned scholars. He observes people getting confused because ramaNa's talks are most of the times about 'sthiti' and not about sAdhana. When people approached and asked him about the Atma jnana, tranquility etc. he used to counter them with the questions like who is asking this question ?? who is expecting answer to these question?? Find out it first, then you will get answer to all your doubts. He never ever asked anyone to find the shrotreeya guru in the traditional school nor asked to do shAstrA vAkya shravaNAdi sAdhana though he holds these traditional obligations with high esteem. So, to get Atma jnana, this is something not an orthodox way of teaching like shAstra vAkya shravaNa, manana and nidhidhyAsana under the guidance of guru who is the authoritative representative of 'guru-shishya' avicchinna paraMpara. Hence, according to him bhagavaan ramaNa maharshi is the brahma nishTa of the highest order and his teaching or observations were about brahma nishTa sthiti but when it comes to sAdhana related matters it is not in line with shrOtreeya way of traditional teaching. Yes, there is mouna vyAkhyAna from the guru and shishya getting enlightenment with this type of vyAkhyAna. But how many traditional guru kula-s & guru-s observing this way of mouna vyAkhyAna teaching !!??

I heard this some decades back just quoting from the memory.

Hari Hari Hari Bol!!!
