[Advaita-l] The size of the pANipeeTa

Is the pANipeeTa of shiva linga should be in accordance with the size of the linga??  For example if the linga is around 12" (inches) what should be the height, width etc. of the pANipeeTa??  If there any reference for this in shilpa shAstra or Agama??  One of my friends required this info.  As he has spatika linga for which he wants to get the pANipeeTa.
