Sri Bhaskar Ji,
You raised the question << who is shrotriya ?? >> .
You also followed it up with the observation << As we know shruti says for
brahma jnAna we have to approach a shrotriya brahmanishTa guru ("sa
gurumevAbhigacchet shrotriyam brahmaniShTham") while it is difficult to
recognize a brahmanishTa guru, it is also becoming difficult to notice a
shrotriya. >> .
Evidently your question is in the context of qualifications of a Guru. In
this context you also ask
<< Has our shAstra anywhere explains about external appearance of a
shrotriya?? >> .
Why limit the scope of the context ?? Apart from shrotriyatvam , certain
other qualities are implied in “ shrotriya brahmanishTa “ . One of them is
he should be a Sadhana Chatushtaya Sampannah . This includes “ tivra
vairagyam “ . Does this not eliminate most , if not all , of the types of
persons you have covered in your post later ?? .
