For both these questions, I think shankara says anAdiranantO 
naisargikOdhyAsaH...atasmin tatbuddhiH is quite natural to the human mind 
clarifies shankara.  evamayamanAdiranantO naisargikOdhyAsO 
mithyApratyayarUpaH...says shankara in adhyAsa bhAshya..
