I agree with Vidya that there is no external check that can prevent budding
mystics from taking flights of fancy.
I do add however that the tradition is quite Vedic, and as an instance, the
Gargya Padapatha of Samaveda Samhita splits up even words like aham, mam
We could also recall the discussion on 'satyam' etc., in Chhandogya
