[Advaita-l] HOROSCOPE Matching in Hindu Marriages

Namaste

AFAIK Krishna's marriage with Rukmini was Rakshasa type only because
He took Her by Force and with no approval from parents. In Rakshasa
marriage the girl has to be carried away by force and fighting if the
girl's family is opposing. This will not happen for Brahmins because
Brahmins are not fighting class. In olden days Brahmin's following the
Dharma Sutras were marrying very young girls before maturity. Because
it is bad for father's house if girl is mature physically and still
staying unmarried in father's house. 24 year males after Vedic
education were marrying 8 or 10 year old girls. Mostly they were
marrying before maturity and keeping the girl in her father's house
till she became mature. Then they were bringing her to mother in law's
house.

Shakuntala and Dushyanta's marriage is Gandharva marriage. It is like
modern Love Marriage.

I also think there was no Horoscope matching in Mahabharata and
Ramayana time. Probably they were seeing Nakshatras and Gotras only.
Bride and bridegroom Gotras must be different.
