it depends on the context. during the practise of karma yoga,
nistraiguNa is closer in meaning to pure sattva - sattva without any
element of rajas or tamas (ref. gItA 2.45). for a j~nAni however,
nistraiguNa is the same as nirguNa since he has transcended the three
guNAs.
