Yes Jaldhar Vyas,

in fact, i tried to (with my very limited knowledge of kannada) to decipher (!) the Foot note by Swami Sachidanandendra Saraswathi of Holenarsipur in his Kannada translation of the Gita Bhashya on this exact place. there he says that vinayaka etc denotes the Tantra Shastra deities.....(his foot note is something to that effect). Thus vinayaka here is Not Ganesh.

Also, as you have rightly remarked, None of the commentaries like Shankarananda Saraswathi's or Gudartha deepika or Bhashyotkarsha deepika or even Upanishad Brahmendra Yogi's commentary has equated vinayaka here in this sloka = Ganesha.

Could you please throw some more light on this Chathur Bhagini ( 4 sisters)

Yes it is singular. However each of the commentators mentions groups in
explaining this shloka. Alongside the three Shankaracharya mentioned,
Shankaranandi and Gudarthadipika also mention: yakshas, rakshasas,
yakshinis, vetalas, pishachas, and kshetrapalas as examples of bhutas.
They are all groups of devayonis.

It just struck me that perhaps it is similiar to the way Rudra is
represented as one or eight or eleven or even an infinite number of
Rudras.

No it's my mistake it should be kenopanishad.

Another mistake is vinayakakalpadiprakarana is the 11th not 7th.

In researching this I found it curious that none of the commentators have
made the equation Vinayaka = Ganesh.
